The Granderfords house impresses huck because the doors have locks and they also have a new rag carpet on the floor. Having new clothes and being able to have new things like rag carpet on the floor is huck's view of success and happiness because he has a new things. Instead of old rags and having other people's clothes. This is the quote as it states in ch.17, pg73,par4 "as soon as i was in,the old gentlemen he locked the door and barred it and bottled it, and told the young men to come in with their guns, and they all went in a big parlor that had a new rag carpet on the floor".
The books had poems written in them by Emmeline, that's why the books were so special. Huck was interrested in the books because he never seen those kinds of books and never read them. In the books because he never seen those kinds of books and never read them. In the books Huck found pictures that got his attention. Huck belives that you have to get your edcuation. Mark Twain also thoughtthat you needed to get your education. ch17,pg76,par3 "they was different from any pictures i ever see before"
The poems were unique because Emmeline did them before she died. The significance of the painting was that she wasn't sure which set of arms to keep or erase. She was trying to decide before she died. Huck was touched by her because she was talented and because she a good life. ch17,pg77,par1 "and art thou gone yes thou art gone alas".

Reader Response #2 ch 7-13 huck finn
Huck was influenced by Tom Sawyer because he was one of his freinds and he was someone he could look up to for help and just to talk. Huck could go and do things with Tom Saywer and it would an experience for both of them.
In chapter 1 page 2 paragraph 3 Huck complains that Miss Watson the widow would say to him "don't put your feet up there,Huckleberry;"and "don't scrunch up like that,Huckleberry-set up straight." She was a good influence on him because she trying to tell him that it is good to go to chruch and dress nice.
Pap was a bad influence on him becasue he was never there for him and he always get drunk. Ch5,pg14,par3 "Don't you give me none o' your lip," says he."You've put on consireable many frills since i been away. I'll take you down a peg before i get dne with you. You're educated, too, they say;can read and write. You think you're better'n your father, now, don't you, because he can't? I'll take it out of you. wjo told you youo might meddle with such hifalut'n foolishness, hey? who told you you could?" Huck respond the Widow. Huck's pap is trying to get his to do the things that he doing with him. Pap doesn't belive in education i am guessing because instead of being happy and glad that he's getting his education pap would rather huck not do it. I think becasue pap didn't get that chance to do it and huck does he don't want his doing it or maybe it's something else.
Jim is another influecne on Huck because he can talk to him. Jim was brve and when they heard something (meaning jim and huck) jim would look to see what it was. jim didn't want huck to see waht jim has seen. In a way jim was protecting Huck.

"Oh, yes, this is a wonderful govment, wonderful. why, looky here. there was a free ______ there from ohio; a mutaltter, most as white as a white man. He had the most whitest shirt on you ever se, too, and the shiniest hat; and there aint a man in that town thats got as fine clothes as what he had; and he had a gold watch and chain, and a silver-headed cane- the awfulest old gray-headed nabob in the state. and what do you think? they said hes a p'fesser in a college. and could talk all kinds of languages, and knowed everything. and that aint the wust of it, they said he could vote, when he was at home. well, that let me out, thinks i. what is this country a- commin to? it was 'lection day, and i was just about to go and vote myself, if i warn' to drunk to get there; but when they told me there was a state in this country where they'd let that ______ vote, i drawed out. i says ill never vote again. thems the very words i said; they all heard me ; and the country may rot for all of me- ill never vote again as long as i live. and to see the cool way of that ______- why, he wouldnt five me the road if i hadn't shoved him out o' the way. says i to the people, why aint this ______ put up at auction and sold?" (pg. 20 chapter 6 2nd full paragraph).
I belive you should treat everybody with respect and be kind to them no no matter what race they are. because we may be a different color but that doesn't mean anything becasue we come into this the same way and we all bleed the same color. what I think pap thinks is wrong because he uses the "n" word alot in this paragraph and I belive he would probalby get mad or upset if someone was saying like that about him.
This relates to Mark Twain and his life because he was a live during the rascist time and he may of heard alot of people talking about rascism. He probably thought that time was very sad because he was always hearing stuff like that.
